It looks like our resident baddie Audra is reverting to her old ways. She’s been in a solid and healthy relationship with Nate. Why screw it up now? Maybe because of one man named Holden? The Young and the Restless star Zuleyka Silver shared the reason behind Audra’s lies.

Old Habits

Audra (Silver) ran into someone from her past. Y&R fans learned about her connection to Holden (Nate Owens). This has her lying to her boyfriend, Nate (Sean Dominic). Old habits die hard because Audra can never stay good for long. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Silver explained what’s going on in her alter-ego’s mind. By this point, Audra feels comfortable where she’s at with Nate. The beloved couple has been drama-free.

“Well, I think it’s really alarming because she’s finally gotten to a place where she feels like she can build something with Nate. I think it took her a long time to open up to someone,” Silver said. “I feel like any relationship she’s ever in, she’s a little guarded still, and so I think she’s been putting her walls down with Nate.”

By the time she finally feels settled in her life, her past pops up on her in some form. This could cause some “high-stakes” drama in her relationship with Nate, Silver teased. “And for this guy to come back into her life, I think she’s definitely worried about that because they’ve had an intense past and she doesn’t want, perhaps Nate to know that side of her, because perhaps she could be fearful that he might not really love her if he really knew who she was,” she added. This storyline has many “layers” to it, and it will unfold as we go along.

Could Audra Lose Nate?

Because of this, Audra could lose everything she wanted in her life. Nate is the only man who’s treated her like a queen. When Silver first read the script, she admitted that she didn’t want Audra to lie to Nate. But “it makes sense” for her character. In Audra’s mind, she assumed that Holden would eventually return to Los Angeles.

“But yeah, it’s still a lie. It’s a lie of omission. Audra doesn’t make the best decisions all the time,” Silver explained. “I feel like sometimes she does come around to the better decision, but I think she’s always making decisions based on, ‘How can I protect myself?’I think she also thinks about the immediate gratification of, ‘Okay, if I lie now, at least I’m not gonna have to deal with this now.'”

Unsurprisingly, Audra is thinking about herself in the moment. She wants to find the quickest way to handle her issues. For Audra, that’s to lie to Nate and hope the problem goes away on its own. Silver teased that Y&R fans “are going to see her talk to Nate… in her own style.” This will bring some twists and turns for the couple. It’ll be interesting to see if Audra will get caught in her own lie. And if so, will the couple last?
