On The Young and the Restless, Chelsea Lawson is big sad over Rey Rosales’s death — never mind that her poisoning could’ve indirectly caused the whole thing. It seems as if she’s at loose ends these days in Genoa City, so we need Chelsea to get a storyline stat.
A Young and the Restless Story For Chelsea
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) hasn’t had much going on. Suddenly, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) think she’s a fabulous designer again despite her…difficulties…remaining on the straight and narrow. So, that’s something, even though she and her bestie/business partner Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) are at each other’s throats over deadlines.
Y&R seems to be trying several options, hoping something will stick for Chelsea. Recently, she had an unexpected scene with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), and for a moment, it seemed Chelsea might turn her recent friendship and affection for Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) in his direction, even though he’s quite happy with Summer.
Then, she had a short parade of men from her past with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) running across her in the park. With Billy, it seems that Chelsea might have something brewing over her son, Johnny. Of course, she’s mentioned the boy a few times over the past year, but Billy doesn’t seem interested in helping facilitate any type of relationship between Johnny and Chelsea or even Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) for that matter. Perhaps Chelsea could really start pushing this, providing even more conflict for an already conflicted Billy.
Then, there’s Nick. They were close enough to marry at one point, but Chelsea ruined it all by embezzling from Fenmore’s and skipping town. The hurt went deep, and it truly seems these two have no romantic future. Of course, with Nick and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) getting closer, he’s primed for a love triangle, which might include Chelsea.
Although she has the seeds of a few possible storylines, it’s clear that The Young and the Restless is struggling with exactly how to fit Chelsea onto the canvas in a meaningful way. But we need them to figure out something big soon. What do you think? What type of storyline would you like to see for Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below.
