Can the Y&R Newmans Ever Forgive Claire Grace?

Victor, Nikki, Victoria, and Nicholas Newman were fighting for their lives on The Young and the Restless. Meanwhile, Claire was insisting that she was the baby Victoria and Cole lost and that they threw her away on purpose. Claire’s Aunt Jordan raised her on those lies. She’s been emotionally abused and brainwashed. But, if she does turn out to be Eve Nicole Howard, will she ever be able to have a relationship with the biological family Claire was raised to hate?

Claire Grace: One Of Us

On the one hand, Newmans have forgiven each other worse. Adam (Mark Grossman) tried to kill Victor (Eric Braeden). Victor and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) have cheated on each other more times than either can count — or recall. Billy (Jason Thompson) just reminded viewers of how Victor had Victoria (Amelia Heinle) arrested on her wedding day to keep her from Billy (watch a flashback to that dreaded day here!).

Even recently, Victor tricked his kids into thinking he was going senile. The point is, rather than keeping Claire (Hayley Erin) from the Newmans forever, her actions should, instead, prove that she belongs among them. No DNA test is necessary.

Watch Your Back, Claire

So maybe the Nemwans could forgive Claire. But, they could never trust her. Then again, they don’t trust each other, so there’s nothing new there. She’d be a normal part of the family, just like everyone else. But, on the other hand, the Newmans circle their wagons for Newmans they care about. The rest can fend for themselves.

For instance, Victor believed for decades that Cole (J. Eddie Peck) was, in fact, his son. He still didn’t give a damn about him. He paid for Cole to go to school, and threw some bucks his mom, Eve’s (Margaret Mason), way. But he never accepted either of them into the family. Eve Sr. tried to kill Victor and Nikki. Eve Jr. tried to kill Victor and Nikki. Nothing will ever redeem her for that.
