A Critic’s Review of The Young and the Restless: Missed Opportunities

When it comes to Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Color me all kinds of shocked. In forcing squabbling siblings Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to work together as co-CEOs of Newman/Locke – soon to be renamed Newman Enterprises – The Young and the Restless had the opportunity for some seriously soapy shenanigans and they squandered it. This soap really should change its name to Missed Opportunities.

Instead, Adam will now be moping around debating whether or not he should cut his losses and extricate himself from the family. This recycled storyline hasn’t been exciting the last eighteen times it was played out by Joshua Morrow – AKA the mope-tastic Nicholas Newman – and I don’t expect it will be exciting now.

Further Y&R Musings

* Could Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), and The Young and the Restless writers not come up with a better alter ego/podcast title than The Grinning Soul?

* Exchange of the Week:

Adam: Welcome to the Resurrection Club. The first rule of the Resurrection Club is that we don’t talk about the Resurrection Club.
Diane: Hello, Adam. You’re not as shocked to see me as I would have expected.
Adam: Well, my father spoiled the surprise…Back when it really did look like you had bought the farm, I wanted to send you a ‘Bite Me’ card for leaving things in a way that I would be implicated in your death but I couldn’t find a forwarding address to Hell.

What do you think? Post a comment!

* I’m guessing it’s a long shot that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will ever again let Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) around Harrison.

* Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) won the battle when Billy chose her and Chancellor/Winters over the family meeting that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) called, but methinks that she’ll lose the war since she can’t get Billy to see sense where his extracurricular activities are concerned.

* Who knew that all Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) needed to be hunky-dory was a pep talk from Victor Newman (Eric Braeden)?
