A Critic’s Review Of The Young and the Restless: A Saving Grace & The Bug

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers HIS Take

Josh Griffith’s steadfast commitment to keeping any and all thrilling developments off-camera was exemplified this week by Chance’s (Conner Floyd) shooting. Thank goodness Tricia Cast [Nina Webster] was at least on hand to remind viewers what a powerhouse actress she is and why she deserves a permanent place on the canvas.

I’m also finding it increasingly difficult to invest in the Summer/Chance/Sharon love triangle. The buildup has been decidedly lacking, and I’m not seeing anything more than some minor, appreciable chemistry between Conner Floyd [Chance Chancellor] and his would-be leading ladies.

And as for Chance’s recuperation at Memorial, I’m going to give the final word to Ann Remington, one of Soap Hub’s top contributing commentators:

Further Y&R Musings

* As expected, Victor’s (Eric Braeden) “master plan” landed with a resounding thud. The one saving grace to emerge from the nonsense was the masterful performance given by Sean Dominic [Nate Hastings].

* How long does it take an elevator to travel at Newman Tower?

* Man, how I missed Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) in brother/sister mode.

* Maybe if we had actually seen Devon (Bryton James) wrestle with his familial feelings towards Nate, the sentiment he imparted to his cousin might have actually rung true.

* Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) referring to Christine (Lauralee Bell) as “The Bug” is never not going to be funny, so here’s hoping she won’t be able to follow through on that promise to cease its usage.

* Returning to amatory complications that irk, I’m at a loss when it comes to Lily/Daniel/Heather. Which permutation — Lily/Daniel, Heather/Daniel — am I supposed to be rooting for?

* While I don’t typically give Summer (Allison Lanier) much credit, I can’t fault Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) logic. Nicholas’s daughter truly is “the least Newman of the Newmans.”
