We here at Soap Hub are never shy when it comes to playing armchair headwriter – look no further than our near weekly ‘Wild Speculation’ articles for proof – and with 2023 fast approaching, a few of us couldn’t help but theorize what might be on the story horizon.

We were equally curious to see what you’d most like to happen to, or suspect is in store for your favorite — and perhaps least favorite — The Young and the Restless characters. To all those who participated, I sincerely thank you.

Below you’ll find a roundup of predictions/wishes submitted by fans and Soap Hub staff alike, including yours truly. Happy reading.

The Young and the Restless — 2024 Predictions

Billy and Chelsea wed. * Nick and Sharon reunite. Ditto Adam and Sally. * Victor and Cole marry in order to passify Claire. * Phyllis buys back The Grand Phoenix. — Becky Wells Garrett

Claire’s charges will be dropped, and she’ll recover. She will also become romantically involved with Nate, making Victoria unhappy. — Carolyn Johansen

Sheila Carter returns to Genoa City obsessing over her granddaughter Lucy, now that she blew it with her son Finn in L.A. Phyllis and Danny team up against Sheila for the sake of their granddaughter Lucy and grow closer. * Victoria and Cole get married. * — Rhonda Dayon Burr

Tucker & Phyllis become Genoa City’s newest power couple. — Nancy Markham

Billy and Chelsea wed which kickstarts a rivalry between Johnny and Connor. * Dylan resurfaces in Genoa City and makes the ultimate play for Sharon. * Sheila Carter sees Lauren in Los Angeles and follows her back to Genoa City to ruin her life. — Amber Sinclair, Soap Hub Editor

Claire Grace will eventually (maybe not this year but eventually) turn out to not be Eve Nicole. — Diane Brounstein, Soap Hub’s Editor-in-Chief

Victor and Cole reunite. * Audra’s untimely, unnatural death casts suspicion on Ashley, Kyle, and Tucker. — Sandra Leeming, Soap Hub’s Community Manager

Y&R will realize the value of digging into the storyline vault to tell today’s stories. * Jack and Nikki learn that the son they lost at birth was stolen — much like Eve Nicole — and is alive and well. This long-lost son becomes a rival for Kyle at Jabot Cosmetics. * Phyllis reaches out to Paul Williams in an effort to bring him back to Genoa City so he’ll break up Christine and Danny, creating a path for a Phyllis/Danny reunion. * Jordan sticks around and falls for Jack, creating tension in Jack and Diane’s marriage. * Boardroom battles are okay but they need to have the emotional impact that Victor vs. Jack over Jabot had back in the 1990s. We need to care why folks are vying for CEO and other titles. * Story for Sharon. — Michael Maloney, Soap Hub’s Sr. West Coast Editor

A Critic’s Predictions For The Young and the Restless

Jordan manages to escape her prison confines. The stress of the prison break exacerbates Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) battle with the bottle even as she manages to convince friends and family she’s fully recovered and on the wagon. * Gossip monger Leanna Love (Barbara Crampton) returns to Genoa City to get the scoop on Claire Grace (Hayley Erin). *

Nate (Sean Dominic) and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) will give in to temptation, but the latter will still pursue a romance with Kyle (Michael Mealor). * Sharon will call it quits with Chance (Conner Floyd), then immediately regret her action when love rival Summer (Allison Lanier) attempts to make another go of things with Kyle. * Diane’s (Susan Walters) blind ambition where her son’s future is concerned will give Jack (Peter Bergman) cause for concern. With Danny (Michael Damian) off the table, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) sets her sights back on Jack.
