From the time Phyllis Summers popped up on The Young and the Restless, viewers realized she wasn’t…well. For one thing, she lied about Danny Romalotti being the father of her son. For another, she became obsessed with Danny’s ex-wife, Christine Blair, to the point where she ended up paralyzing the man Chris was then involved with.

Young and the Restless Polling

She also left dead sea life in their bed while Chris (Lauralee Bell) and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) were on their honeymoon. Since then, she’s mellowed a little, but she still has a tendency to see herself as the center of the universe, with any action taken by any person an obvious attempt to affect the life of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Will she ever get a grip and change? Y&R fans have feelings on the topic:

What’s the Problem

A winning 80% observe that Phyllis will never change because she doesn’t recognize any reason to. Whenever anyone, like good pals Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), so much as offer a dab of constructive criticism, she denies, denies, denies. This is not the proper mindset for soul-searching.

Young and the Restless: Practically Perfect

The Young and the Restless polling suggests that the reason Phyllis never changes, 11% of you add, is because she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with her. When she absolutely lost her mind over Summer Newman (Hunter King) moving to Italy, that was a perfectly normal, motherly reaction. When she strung Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) along even as she swore her undying love for Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow), what’s a woman as irresistible as herself to do? She should give classes in how to be as fabulous as Phyllis, not consider changing a single thing.

Mea Culpa

But Phyllis had a holiday dream, 9% pipe up. She has seen the error of her ways! She’s going to be a new woman now! You just watch!
