Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson chose Lily Winters over her son Billy Abbott to run Chancellor Industries on The Young and the Restless. However, there was a more obvious choice to carry on the legacy of Katherine Chancellor.
It’s not surprising that Lily (Christel Khalil) worried about her qualifications to run Chancellor. Her background doesn’t exactly add up to being a high-powered businesswoman. But, of course, Jill’s (Jess Walton) didn’t either. In some ways, we love that Jill gave Lily a chance, but in others, we think Jill could’ve chosen somebody else to run Kay’s company.
We think maybe Jill should’ve considered keeping the business in the family. While Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is busy with his own company, there’s another Chancellor who will likely be at loose ends soon.
We think Jill should’ve chosen Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) to run Kay’s business. While Chance probably doesn’t have the background to be a high-powered executive just yet, he happens to be married to Abby Newman-Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway). Abby certainly has the business background to be co-CEO with her husband, keeping the business in the family. While Abby has Society right now, which she runs with Devon, it seems she could take on even more, especially since her spite hotel fizzled out.
Chance just returned to The Young and the Restless, and Abby likely wants to keep her husband at home. She’d probably support a career change for Chance. We know that Chance isn’t a businessman yet, but he could change, especially as he settles down with his family. Without a new job, what will he do? Going back to the police department might be too much of a trigger for him right now. We could see Chance and Abby as Genoa City’s newest power couple.
At this point, Billy (Jason Thompson) can’t be trusted to run the whole thing. However, we continue to hope that Billy will prove Jill, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and everybody else wrong. For now, he still has Lily in his corner, but if he goes too far, he could lose her.
Lily was a surprising choice, and we’re sure Jill has her reasons. However, if Lily does not work out at Chancellor, we hope Jill considers her grandson and his wife.
