CBS just launched its new podcast, Soapy. Greg Rikaart (The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives) and Rebecca Budig (The Bold and the Beautiful) are the hosts behind this new immersive podcast, which will take you into the world of soaps. They snagged Y&R veteran Eric Braeden as their first guest.

First Look

Soap fans got the first look at Rikaart and Budig’s first episode. Their inaugural guest was none other than Braeden, who portrays Victor Newman on Y&R. The Y&R Instagram page shared a clip of the trio hanging out backstage. Budig and Rikaart panned over the camera. “We hit a grand slam,” Rikaart exclaimed. “I think I’m in love,” Budig said as she giggled.

Y&R fans are loving this moment. They stormed the comments with their thoughts. One fan exclaimed, “Victor!!” while another wrote, “Aww, this is so cute.” Others wanted to know all the details about this podcast, including where they could listen to the first episode. “Where can we hear this? What time and what is it about?” one fan asked, while another wanted to know, “Are you on Spotify?”

You can listen to CBS’s Soapy, hosted by Budig and Rikaart, on Apple Podcasts, Audacy, and Spotify. Full episodes can also be found on the CBS YouTube channel. During their interview, Braeden explained why he’s “such a champion” of the soap genre, even if it’s not an easy job. It’s like a masterclass in acting.

Soap operas aren’t as glamorous as they look on television. There’s a lot of studying involved. Rikaart explained that they have to study “50-60 pages” of lines within “a few hours.” Even theater actors and primetime actors have no idea what it takes to create a soap.

“People have no clue what we do. None,” Braeden said. He’s satisfied with the pace of filming a soap. Braeden admitted that it’s “very boring” to film a primetime show. “We make very few friends doing a soap because you don’t have much time to get to know each other.”There’s no time to make friends when you’re on a soap. “You get on the set. Boom,” Braeden added.
