There is very little doubt that Ashley Abbott is one of the most beloved characters on The Young and the Restless. But for the past 10 years or so it has become commonplace for fans to see very little of her.
Sometimes it’s due to shortsighted writers choosing to send the character off-screen. But on other occasions it’s the result of actress Eileen Davidson making the decision to put her acting career on the back burner and devote herself to family and other interests.
Currently, Davidson is availing herself to the soap for short multi-episode guest stints. But is this enough to satisfy the fans? That’s what Soap Hub wanted to know and we put it to a vote. Here’s what over 10,000 of you have to say:
Oui
Over 61% of you enthusiastically shouted, “Eileen Please Stay!” For many, The Young and the Restless hasn’t been the same without her. Yes, it’s nice to see Ashley on one of her many trips back home but you want some permeance.
Many of you who voted yes said that Ashley was defiantly needed full time so she could be added to Victor’s story. The Mustache is currently being plagued by a blood disease and a possible life-saving treatment is causing cognitive decline. Imagine if Victor were to forget all about Nikki but retain crystal clear memories of his romance with Ashley.
Non
Still, there’s a large 38% of you who like how things are working out at the present. You’re afraid that if Ashley were to return permanently she would be sucked right back into the Abbott Family drama and revert to her poor put upon heroine shtick. You like the take charge, kick ass Ashley that you have been seeing of late and you don’t want to see her mellow.
There’s also a tiny fraction of you happy that Davidson’s small guest appearances leave the door open for her to return to other projects.
You say that you miss her level headed, no-nonsense approach on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And there is a certain blond she-devil on Days of Our Lives that you would like to see played by her original performer…
No matter the onscreen outcome there is one thing that is for certain. Eileen Davidson is a beloved performer and fans will take her any way they can get her. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
