Oh, the drama — it’s a big reason why we love watching our favorite soap operas but no one can take it non-stop. That is why the shows are smart enough to throw in a little bit of spice — some comic relief that helps alleviate the tension with a good one-liner.
Soap Operas: Bring On The Funny
Those rare moments when a character can make you laugh out loud or even break up a co-star are moments we soap fans treasure and discuss with other soap fans. So who in daytime do we enjoy doing this the most? Check out our list.
General Hospital: Liesl
Oh, Mutter. Liesl (Kathleen Gati) used to be far more lethal than funny but her sense of humor has endeared her to fans — and Franco (Roger Howarth). Their friendship and wry wit make their scenes must-see — and we miss their scenes together. She sees through everyone else’s baloney and she’s not afraid to call them on it — especially Brad (Parry Shen). And we love her for it!
Days of our Lives: Xander
It doesn’t hurt that Xander (Paul Telfer) delivers his delicious one-liners shirtless but we’d love him anyway. Xander doesn’t take life too seriously and can immediately spot the hypocrisy that runs rampant in Salem — and in his house specifically. He can’t stand Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) holier-than-thou attitude but it’s his friendship with Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that really thrills us.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Shauna
A breath of fresh air blew into Los Angeles the day Shauna (Denise Richards) hit town. She was not going to let those Logan women make her daughter feel badly about herself but it was when Shauna set her sights on Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) that we really took notice. Her shamelessness has us rooting for her troublemaking ways — go get him, Shauna!
The Young and the Restless: Phyllis
If Michelle Stafford is in a scene, you have to keep your eyes on her Phyllis because you don’t know what she’ll do next. From waving her arms like she’s a bird to teasing any man within 10 feet of her, she makes everything interesting — imagine if she had a real story what she could do!
