The Young and the Restless

Ashland’s Young and the Restless Identity Should Have Been This Man

So thanks to all of Nicholas Newman’s digging, Young and the Restless fans – and Victoria Newman – now know that Ashland Locke is really Bobby DeFranco, Ashland was his childhood friend whose identity he assumed after a car accident.

A Young and the Restless Tale

No one in Genoa City has ever heard of Bobby. No one in Genoa City cares about Bobby, no matter what an animated tale Ashland (Richard Burgi) spun about matching tattoos and Cameros going boom-boom – and did Ashland mention that he was a poor, abused child? Because he was! What a waste! (If his latest Perils of Pauline story is even true.)

Y&R Blast From the Past

How much better would it have been if Ashland Locke turned out to be Brooks Prentiss? The ages work out, Brooks was about a decade older than Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) back in the early 1980s.

Who is Brooks Prentiss? He was the biological son of Leslie Brooks and Lance Prentiss. But, due to the usual soapy soapiness, little Brooks thought his parents were Leslie’s sister, Lorie Brooks, and Lance’s brother, Lucas Prentiss. (L names were very popular in Genoa City before the Abbotts and Newmans arrived.)

Means, Motive and Opportunity

Why would Brooks Prentiss have a grudge against the Newman family? Because Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was a bastard to Brooks’s adoptive mother, Lorie, and drove her out of town. Now Brooks is back to get his revenge! (And he isn’t thrilled by how Victor almost let him die from a heart attack in order to get his hands on Ashland’s media company.)

The Big Young and the Restless Reveal

Ashland covered his tracks. But Leslie, as played by original actress Janice Lynde, is scheduled to return to Y&R next week. How awesome would it have been if, in the middle of his I Do’s with Victoria, when the judge asks if anyone has any objections, Leslie stands up?

“Mother?” Ashland asks. “Brooks!” Leslie cries. “Why did you lie?” Victoria sobs. “To get back at him!” Ashland points at Victor. Now that’s good soap opera!
