Ashland Locke arrived on The Young and the Restless as a mysterious character, and the picture hasn’t really grown much clearer in the months since he’s taken up permanent residence. Especially once he started spitting out sob story after sob story about why his past was such a murky mess.
Young and the Restless Polling
Now, the plot thickens even further as it begins to look like Ashland (Robert Newman) has been faking his terminal diagnosis from the start. (What then, are we to make of all those times when he was short of breath and weak despite the only ones around to see him being…us?) So how, in light of all this, does Ashland really feel about Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle)? What over 3,000 voters told us:
Y&R: Long Con
Victoria was just the means to an end for Ashland, 60% of you confidently concluded. He came to town intending to acquire Newman Enterprises, and if he couldn’t do it purely by playing Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), then marrying his daughter would get the job done just as well. Ashland doesn’t care what happens to her after he’s gotten what he wanted.
Young and the Restless: Slow Burn
A more romantic 30% of the audience prefers to see it as Ashland didn’t care about Victoria at the onset…but he’s grown to love her over time. He really does want to spend the rest of his life with her…and her father’s company.
Y&R: Two For One
Ashland absolutely loves Victoria an optimistic 10% insists. The fact that his loving her and her loving him leads to both of them teaming up against Victor is just a bonus he’s happy to embrace. They’re the team that will finally bring down The Mustache, and then the two of them will live happily ever after — for a good long time yet.
