A Critic’s Review of The Young and the Restless: Victims Or Villains

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Who exactly are we supposed to be rooting for on The Young and the Restless? Who’s the victim, and who’s the villain? Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) has become so insufferable as of late, that seeing him get knocked down a peg or two is a welcome sight…but we’re not sure that that was the writer’s intent.

Surely we were meant to curse Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for their latest scheme, but it kind of felt like a deserved win.

That being said, we can’t really understand the point of publishing Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) crimes. It’s not like Chance Comm can be sued for writing truthful copy…especially when they have the cold hard facts to back up their story.

It seems like the only thing Adam and Victor accomplished was the ruination of Ashland’s life, and the possible ruination of Newman/Locke…and maybe Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) will be angry at Billy for a hot minute or two, but she’s smart enough to figure out that her dad and brother were behind it all.

Further Y&R Musings

* Hypocrite is not a good look on Ashley “Sperm and Husband Stealer” Abbott (Eileen Davidson).

* Kudos to Tricia Cast for her pitch-perfect handling of Nina Webster’s palpable grief.

* What is it going to take to convince the Powers that Be over at The Young and the Restless to bring Ptosha Storey and Leigh-Ann Rose on, full time, as Naya Benedict and Imani Benedict, respectively?

Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) needs a family unit, and someone to talk to other than Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) – and pot-stirrer Imani is desperately needed to liven things up.

* Why did Sharon Rosales (Sharon Chase) tell Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) that Mariah asked her to speak with Abby? We saw Victor make the call, and tell Ashley that he’d done so.

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
