A Critic’s Review of The Young and the Restless: Questionable Confession

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Let’s face facts; Bobby DeFranco’s (Richard Burgi) “confession” served no purpose, save for drumming up more questions. How did he manage to make it to that meeting with Camilla Rhodes? What did he wear – presuming all his belongings burned up along with Ashland and the car? And, perhaps most importantly, did he REALLY try to save his friend’s life? Or, did he catch sight of flames and decide that letting Ashland burn to death was worth him getting out from under his abusive father’s thumb?

Oh, and here are a few further quandaries:

* If Ashland assumed the identity of a very real person, how is it that there was no birth record to be found bearing the name, Ashland Locke?

* How many more shoes have to drop before Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) finally wises up, and decides that “Ashland” just isn’t worth all this bother. Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me twice blah blah blah.

And let us not forget that “Ashland” still hasn’t shared exactly how he was able to acquire Camilla’s TV stations. Yet another secret waiting to be uncovered. What do you have in store for us next The Young and the Restless?

Further Y&R Musings

* Is it just us, or did Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) seem all kinds of disappointed that Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) made it back in time to hitch a ride on the Jabot jet?

* There is zero doubt that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is succumbing to the ravages of postpartum separation, but this sudden, “me, me, me, it’s all about me attitude,” is really starting to grate – who does she think she is? Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway)?

On the other hand, Jack was reduced to “sad, lonely, and sexless old man” status last week, so it only makes sense that the writers are reducing Mariah’s character to an equally sorry state.

But what will come of all this? Will Mariah actually wear Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) down until she submits to being impregnated? Will they have Mariah, once again, cheat on her beloved? Or, are we gearing up for a one-sided custody battle? Because if there is one sure-fire way to make Mariah, and the continued fall out of the surrogacy story, even more unappealing, it would be for Mariah to go after the baby.
