When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) has been arrested for fraud – and she would have gotten away with it, if it hadn’t been for a certain meddling redhead, the redhead’s always eager to assist a lover and an accountant who absolutely hated her guts. Now what?

The Young and the Restless doesn’t have many actual storylines to speak of. There’s the whole who kidnapped Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) caper, and the question of whether or not Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will get justice for her father…but (hopefully) those will soon be coming to an end.

The only other happening of note is the engagement of Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) – and last week, we pointed out that this storyline really has only two potential outcomes: Victoria’s is left heartbroken when Ashland dies, or Victoria is left heartbroken when Ashland runs off a new and improved Newman Enterprises.

But, perhaps The Young and the Restless writers have already given us a hint as to what the next few months of the show will look like.

Remember when Lily Winters Ashby (Christel Khalil) made that pretty ominous statement about helping her daughter move away from a “psychotic roommate?” Surely that’s not the last we’ll hear of that.

And then there’s Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) backsliding into his old, villainous ways. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) may have put his foot down when it comes to Newman Media’s poaching talent from Locke Communications, but will Adam listen? We’re all ways up for some good old-fashioned corporate wars, and throwing in a healthy dose of sibling rivalry would be just the ticket!

Further Y&R Musings

* Do you know what this Mariah storyline has only served to do? Remind us how self-centered Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) is. Rather than actually care about another human being, she’s more concerned about how Mariah’s taken her baby,  and how sad she is, and how Chance Chancellor should be there to take care of her, everyone else be damned. Not a good look, Abby. Not a good look.

* Thank the soap gods that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) reunion wasn’t prolonged. Heck, we blinked, and Kyle had traveled from the Abbott manse to his beloved’s hotel room in Milan.
