When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of YR’s week that was.
Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Adam’s (Mark Grossman) a changed man. Now, he’s well aware that folks might be skeptical, but his desire to change came about after he starred in his own fantastical Persona/The Seventh Seal mashup, so you know it’s serious.
And it won’t go the way of any of his other epiphanies either. No, he won’t ever abandon the calling to do good – not no how. He wants to be loved and accepted by his family, Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) especially…and he wants to make them proud; especially Victor (Eric Braeden).
And just to prove what a magnanimous guy he is – and Adam is just full of *ahem* magnanimity – he’s decided to work overtime to reunite Sharon (Sharon Case) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso)…while also staying far, far away from Sharon. How that will work out remains to be seen, but if anyone can do it, it’s Adam.
The only thing that hasn’t changed, as far as Adam is concerned, is his feelings about Billy (Jason Thompson). He still wants to crush his rival and make no mistake about it. But instead of running over and killing another one of his kids, Adam has decided to ruin Billy’s business and reputation….and maybe once he’s done with that, he’ll run over another child. It’s really the only way to get evil Adam back.
* Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) colluding with Victor (Eric Braeden) was a nifty little twist, but we gotta wonder why the wily con-woman would take Victor at his word that her confinement to the mental health clinic will be brief? What’s to stop Victor from bribing that clearly bribable psychiatrist to imprison her for the rest of her life?
And speaking of hard to believes…did Michael (Christian Le Blanc) really just let some random doctor and the not-at-all reliable Victor steamroll him into dropping all charges against Adam and consigning Chelsea to a clinic rather than making her stand trial for her crimes? Doesn’t he even want a second opinion on Chelsea’s condition?
* Dear YR, we want you to SHOW us the beats being played in Amanda’s (temporary recast Karla Mosley) story, not tell us about them after the fact. Who thought it was a good idea to have the good lawyer’s first meeting with her extended family OFF-SCREEN? All those potentially juicy, and not to mention awkward, moments squandered!
* Boy, Summer (Hunter King) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) are going to have a lot of explaining to do when it comes to the sudden appearance of Tara (Elizabeth Leiner) and her son at their engagement party, huh? The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
