Chelsea Lawson and Billy Abbott had a pleasant chat earlier this week on The Young and the Restless, sounding for all the world like a pair of civil exes. You wouldn’t know, based on how cordial they were, their loaded past.
Young and the Restless Polling
You know — that Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) drugged Billy (Jason Thompson), raped him, conceived Johnny Abbott, then more or less sold the newborn to Billy and his then-wife, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Yeah, like we said, totally civil. Is Y&R setting Chelsea and Billy up for a second go-around? And would viewers go for that?
Dirty Y&R Deeds
That’s a no from us, 71% of you are making an “ew, yucky” face. Please re-read the above. Drugged. Raped. Sold. One day, they’re going to have to tell Johnny the truth about how he came into the world. Having Billy be romantically involved with Chelsea would only make an already sordid story so much worse.
Young and the Restless Take It Slow
So many Genoa City folks have done so much worse, 18% of the audience reminds us. Do we need to list all of Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) sins? Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman)? Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope)? Michael Baldwin’s (Christian Le Blanc)?
The point is, Y&R is full of horrible people who have done horrible things — and lived to be embraced by the community at large. Chelsea has already overcome her con artist past. This can be just another part of that.
Good Fit
Both Billy and Chelsea are trying to become better people, 11% of fans believe, and doing it together could be just what they need to succeed. Plus, now that Billy has decided he is furious about Victoria (Amelia Heinle) reuniting with Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and he’s threatening to take their kids away from her, who better to have in his custody corner than Johnny’s biological mother?!
