Soap Hub Wellness Wednesday: GH’s John J. York Gives Sage Advice

John J. York has played Malcolm “Mac” Scorpio since 1991. The heartthrob has been a Port Charles mainstay ever since acting as a surrogate dad to Robin, Maxie, and the late Georgie. Mac has offered wisdom to his loved ones and, in real-life, York has some wise words to share, too!

Other GH actors who’ve contributed to Soap Hub’s Wellness Wednesday include Laura Wright (Carly), Eden McCoy (Josslyn), and Johnny Wactor (Brando). This week, Soap Hub has chatted with York to get his thoughts on health and wellness.

What are your “go-to” activities for health and wellness?
John J. York: “My go-to activities for health and wellness are playing golf with friends and I walk pretty aggressively for about 2 1/2 miles from two to four times a week. I go on a hiking trail.

Why is wellness important to you?
John J. York: It’s important to me because I want to be able to enjoy spending time with my grandkids, my family, and friends for as long as possible!

How do you keep a healthy mind?
John J. York: I try not to think too much. (Wryly) It hurts my head. I try to stay as positive as I can about whatever is going on in my life and I try to keep stress to a minimum as best I can. If you can do something about something you might be facing, do it…if there’s nothing you can do, let it go and move on! Granted, that is sometimes easier said than done.

What workout tips do you have for people?
John J. York: I really don’t have any tips or tricks for wellness other than to eat as healthy as you can, try to exercise even if it’s just walking around the block a couple of times, and keep stress to a minimum. (Wryly) I’m sure you’ve never heard that anywhere before.
