Each Wednesday, Soap Hub chats with a daytime star to get insights into their thoughts on health and wellness, topics that are of great concern in today’s world. This week, Brandon Barash, who plays Jake DiMera on Days of our Lives shared his thoughts on a happy and healthy mind.
Brandon Barash Is on a Schedule
Brandon Barash first made the daytime scene as Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital in 2007. He played the part on a regular basis till 2013 and popped up in Port Charles for stints in 2014, 2015, and 2016. He returned to soaps in 2019 first as Days of our Lives’ Stefan O. DiMera and later, his twin Jake DiMera. The devoted dad to daughter Harper (whom he shares with ex-wife Kirsten Storms, who plays GH’s Maxie Jones) and newly engaged actor (to fiancée Isabella Devoto) says that consistency is key to wellness.
Soap Hub: What is your go-to activity for health and wellness?
Brandon Barash: There isn’t just one for me, or probably for anyone really. Anything at the gym — swimming, yoga, running, [or] weights. It’s all about balance for me. If I had to pick a favorite, it’d be yoga, because it implements elements of physical and mental well-being.
Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
Soap Hub: Why is wellness important to you?
Brandon Barash: Without a healthy body and mind, we have nothing — we’re physically and mentally broke.
Soap Hub: How do you keep a healthy mind?
Brandon Barash: Meditation. For me, getting through the day/life without meditation is akin to attempting to run a marathon without training or stretching. Not gonna happen.
Brandon Barash Offers Advice on Staying Focused
Soap Hub: Do you have any wellness tips or tricks?
Brandon Barash: Whatever it is that you’re wanting to implement into your life, do it for 21 days — that creates the habit. After that, it’s smooth sailing.
