Some New Yorkers never visit the Empire State Building, but Maryland native Victoria Grace takes full advantage of seeing the local sights when she goes home to the East Coast. The Days of our Lives star chatted with Soap Hub about where she’s been and where she’d like to go for this week’s Travel Tuesday.
Victoria Grace: A Capitol Idea
Grace is no stranger to the Washington D.C. area as she grew up nearby. “My family is in Maryland,” she tells Soap Hub. “So, we’re very familiar with the D.C. area. I try to get back there three or four times a year.”
The actress, whose character is currently torn between Tripp (Lucas Adams) and Johnny (Carson Boatman), says she’s always loved the historical landmarks in the D.C. area. And, in case you might be visiting that area, it may be helpful to know that many of them are very close to one another — maybe even within walking distance. “I absolutely adore seeing the Capitol building and also the Lincoln Memorial and have ever since I was little,” Grace says.
Childhood Memories
She recalls doing a photo shoot in the historic Washington D.C. area when she was a child for Children’s Hospital. “That was my introduction to it,” Grace recalls. “I’ve always adored museums, so the Smithsonian is right up there with them.”
The star was pleased to find out from Soap Hub that DAYS itself is in the Smithsonian. Horton holiday ornaments and a DAYS script from the mid-1990s dealing with Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) possession are among the items that reside there.
Victoria Grace: Art Lover
“I went into the art portion of the museum, and that was absolutely amazing,” she says. As for fun things to do in the area, Grace offers, “There is great shopping if shopping is your thing. There are tons of nice stores on I Street [or sometimes referred to as Eye Street on maps to make it clearer]. There are pubs and, of course, the monuments and museums.”
Going on a guided tour can be good for first-time visitors. Grace, however, enjoys exploring sights with her family and friends. “That’s always been my personal way to go,” she says. “That makes it more fun and intimate.”
As for future places she’d like to visit, Grace says a trip to Europe is on her wish list. “I definitely want to visit…France or Italy,” she says. “I love architecture and art. So, those would be two of the best places in the world to go to!”
