General Hospital’s Trina Robinson is due for a nice long vacation given recent events in her life. Her portrayer, Tabyana Ali, has some great travel ideas that she could share with her on-screen alter-ego. The actress chatted with Soap Hub about her thoughts on travel for the latest installment of Travel Tuesday.
Tabyana Ali Talks Travel and What Island Gave Her Her Name
Recently, Soap Hub interviewed Ali about her current storyline. Now, she’s sharing with us her thoughts on places she’d like to visit and what movie she found particularly inspirational.
Soap Hub: Do you have any dream destinations?
Tabyana Ali: Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve told my mother I want to visit Tuscany. My mom would always say she’d want to go live in Tuscany and have a chicken farm and sell eggs. I picked that dream up from her, but I have had it for myself, too. It sounds like so much fun.
I don’t feel I’d have to do that in Tuscany to do that. I’d also love to visit Guana [Island, which is an island of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean]. In the U.S., I’d love to visit Aspen. I’m not big on travel. I don’t like flying. If I can keep my feet on the ground, I will! But I’d love to go to those three places. I’d also love to visit the island of Tabyana.
Soap Hub: Were you named after the island?
Tabyana Ali: Yes. That’s where I got my name. My mom visited the island of Tabyana, which is in Honduras. She said, ‘If I ever had another daughter, I’d name her Tabyana’ — and surprise, here I am!

Soap Hub: You talked about Tuscany — had you seen any movies that were set there?
Tabyana Ali: Yes. I’d seen Under the Tuscan Sun. Oh, my gosh! I love that movie. I feel like it speaks to me in every language. It’s a dream destination. I like the idea of going somewhere and finding a rundown, vacant villa that has a beautiful yard. You have to fix it up and add your personal touches to it. That movie truly speaks to me. Someday, I want to build my own home and live in it myself.
Soap Hub: What do you love about that film?
Tabyana Ali: The movie tells a beautiful love story with Diane Lane’s character — not just with a man but also with herself and the community around her. That’s what draws me into that movie. I love ‘love,’ but I also love loving myself. I find that movie very beautiful.
