When Hunter Tylo left The Bold and the Beautiful to shoot an oversea project, the writers took advantage of the actress’ absence to create story for Ridge — they killed off his wife!
Taylor (Hunter Tylor) went abroad for a conference and she was wearing a specially designed outfit that Ridge (then Ronn Moss) made for her.
The Forrester label was found in the burnt wreckage and once Ridge saw it, he’d know that his wife was gone! But Ridge actually found it hard to believe that his wife was dead even though his and Taylor’s loved ones — Stephanie (Susan Flannery), Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), and Jack (Chris Robinson) — were more accepting of Taylor’s fate.
Of course, it turned out that Taylor wasn’t truly dead. She’d been mugged for her Forrester outfit and the person who assaulted her and took her place on a connecting flight was the one who died.
It was many months before Taylor made her way back to Los Angeles after escaping from the palace of Prince Omar of Morocco (Kabir Bedi), who had fallen in love with Taylor.
By the time she made it home, Ridge had some explaining to do as he had rebounded quickly and re-married. His bride was Brooke, of course!
