Top 10 Craziest Soap Opera Plots

Check out our list of the top 10 craziest soap opera plots ever and see if you agree with them. Let us know in the comments section below.

1. Mr. Freeze
In 1981, evil Mikkos snagged the Ice Princess, the world’s largest uncut diamond, and plotted to take over the world. Step one of his master plan to create a new Ice Age was unleashing an intense blizzard on Port Charles. Luke (Anthony Geary), Laura (Genie Francis), and Robert (Tristan Rogers) stopped the madness by infiltrating the Cassadines’ private island, where Luke figured out how to turn off the weather machine and, in the process, he killed Mikkos.

2. Devil and the Doc
James E. Reilly concocted a wild tale for Marlena (Deidre Hall) in 1995, when he had the good doctor suddenly become possessed by the devil. The Days of our Lives story took viewers on a wild ride as Marlena spoke in a demonic voice, levitated, and, at one point, even turned into a jaguar.

3. Reva 2.0
After Reva (Kim Zimmer) washed up on an island and made her way to a phone, she called home and heard her own voice on the other end. It turned out Josh (Robert Newman) had accidentally concocted a clone of the woman he loved and fell for her hook, line, and sinker. The real Reva eventually made her way home and reunited with Josh, while her clone turned into her long lost cousin, Dolly.

4. Erica’s Embryo
All My Children broke new ground in 1973 when Erica (Susan Lucci) underwent television’s first legal abortion. However, the show rewrote the story in 2005, by revealing that the doctor who performed the operation actually transplanted the fetus into his own barren wife. So, 30-plus years later, Erica suddenly had another biological child, a son named Josh.

5. Zombie Love
The soap opera Passions was chock full of wild zany plots, but Kay’s scheme to put her romantic rival Charity on ice – literally, and replace her with a zombie lookalike might have been its craziest. The plan was for Zombie Charity to ruin the real Charity and Miguel’s (Jesse Metcalf) relationship. Things went haywire when Kay discovered Zombie Charity was a sexy she-devil determined to bed Miguel (Jessie Metcalf) and then destroy him.

6. Alvin, Can You Hear Me?
Bad guy Clint (James Michael Gregory) kidnapped Kevin (Greg Rikaart), then tortured and traumatized him just like his abusive father Tom. Once Kevin’s mental state was at an all-time low, Clint forced him into robbing banks while wearing a giant chipmunk head. The scam came to an end when Clint died of a heart attack, and Kevin wondered if he could have killed him.

7. Swamp Thing
Remember when Bo (Peter Reckell) and Billie discovered the dirty and disheveled “Swamp Girl” in New Orleans? They brought her back to Salem, where she got a makeover and was revealed to be a princess named Greta (Julianne Morris). To help her reclaim her throne, Austin (Austin Peck) accompanied Greta on on a journey through a virtual Garden of Eden, where they had to overcome foes like Princess Gina, Sami (Alison Sweeney) the witch, and Satan.

8. Casey the Alien
Casey (Bradley Lockerman), an alien from the planet Lumina, landed in Port Charles searching for a magic crystal in 1990. He befriended Robin (Kimberly McCullough), who convinced Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Anna (Finola Hughes) to get involved in the search. Once Casey and the crystal reunited, he returned home.

9. Turning Back Time
When One Life to Live’s Bo (Robert Woods) and Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) were struck by lightning in 2008, the duo was transported back in time to 1968. Suddenly, Bo was reliving his father Asa’s past, while Rex was reliving Bo’s. Things really turned wild when Rex (as Bo) slept with Asa’s ex-mistress Emma.

10. Bear Necessities
Pam’s (Allie Mills) soap opera rivalry with Donna (Jennifer Gareis) reached its peak when she lured her nemesis to a cabin and held her at gunpoint. But wacky Pam switched up her plan when she noticed a bear outside. She knocked Donna out, tied her to a chair, and doused her with honey; then enticed the bear inside for “a snack.” Fortunately, Donna was saved by Owen (Brandon Beemer).
