A familiar face is returning to host the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards later this month. The Talk host Sheryl Underwood is going to handle the hosting duties for the annual awards show.
Sheryl Underwood Returns As Host
Sheryl Underwood is going to host the Daytime Emmys awards show. She’s hosted in the past five different times alongside Mario Lopez (Access Hollywood) and her fellow hosts from The Talk. This year, she’ll be handling the hosting duties as a solo act.
According to a press release from CBS and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which administers the awards, talent will appear from “the Emmy stage, individual show studios, and homes” in order to accept their awards. Some winners will be announced on Twitter (follow @DaytimeEmmys and check back with Soap Hub to stay up on the victors). Here’s the list of this year’s nominations.
In July, a separate ceremony will hand out Daytime Emmys for Daytime Children’s Programming, Animation, and Daytime Lifestyle Programming. The 48th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards is produced by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI), which produced Daytime Emmys in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2020. Adam Sharp and Steve Ulrich are executive producers from NATAS. ATI’s David McKenzie is executive producer and director.
The first Daytime Emmys were held in 1974, honoring work that had been broadcast in 1973. Awards went to The Doctors for Outstanding Drama Series, Elizabeth Hubbard (Althea, The Doctors) for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series, and Macdonald Carey (Tom, Days of our Lives) for Outstanding Leading Actor in a Drama Series. The 1st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were hosted by Barbara Walters (TODAY) and Peter Marshall (Hollywood Squares). The 48th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards will air on Friday, June 25 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The show can also be seen on streaming platforms Paramount+ and the CBS app.
