The Bold and the Beautiful’s Eric Quandary: Who He Can Confide In

Eric Forrester has had marital problems ever since The Bold and the Beautiful began. In the show’s second episode, in fact, his then-wife Stephanie implied he was fooling around on her with his associate Margo. Now, Eric’s the one being cheated on and pretty soon, he’s going to need someone with whom he can talk.

The Bold and the Beautiful Story Pivot?

His current wife Quinn (Rena Sofer) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) can’t seem to keep their hands off one another, but their romps aren’t just about sex. Both were at crossroads in their respective relationships – Quinn’s with Eric (John McCook) and Carter’s with ex-fiancée Zoe (Kiara Barnes). They didn’t think before acting on their need and mutual attraction (as people tend not to do in these situations).

Eric’s going to need someone to talk to when this all comes out and while he has lots of friends and family on the canvas – ex-wives Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Donna (Jennifer Gareis); sister-in-law Pam (Alley Mills), and son Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) – there’s one person who knows Eric better than anyone and that’s his late wife Stephanie (Susan Flannery).

Soap Hub thinks it’d be a neat idea if Eric were to start talking to Steph again if and when he sets out on examining his life. Perhaps Stephanie’s portrait will once again be placed above the fireplace (as it was during the last holidays), which would prompt the conversations. There’s a precedent for this — Brooke had a conversation, albeit a brief one, at her last wedding to Ridge.

Maybe BB could work out a deal with Flannery to have her come back for some more talks only this time, she’d be able to have some frank discussions with Eric. For starters, she could point out to him that now he’s the one being cheated on – and he might then have a greater understanding of how Steph felt when she learned that Eric had turned to (of all people!) Brooke.

Eric could talk about his inability to forgive Quinn for her trying to destroy Brooke and Ridge’s marriage. Certainly, there were many times Steph tried to destroy Brooke…why did Eric forgive Stephanie on more than one occasion, but he can’t seem to do the same with Quinn? Who knows what pearls of wisdom a spiritual Steph might have for Eric?

Eric and Stephanie weren’t primarily known for their romantic scenes; they bonded over the business, their children, and various threats to the family and Forrester Creations. In the family home, they’ve had many long heart-to-heart talks, thrown scrapbooks back and forth at one another, shared confidences, and had family celebrations.

So, Eric chatting with Stephanie’s portrait – and hearing her talk back to him – could provide poignant moments, the kind that BB is known to bring to viewers. Bonus: as we’d likely be hearing Stephanie’s voice, we imagine taping such scenes would be easily achieved in accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols.
