Lawrence Saint-Victor, who plays attorney and top Forrester Creations executive Carter Walton on The Bold and the Beautiful, recently took to social media to pay tribute to a special influence in his life. The actor honored the late rapper DMX, who died on April 9, after suffering a heart attack.
“I can’t even tell you how this man’s art influenced and inspired me,” Saint-Victor shared on Instagram about DMX, whose birth name was Earl Simmons. “I remember in high school when LL Cool J’s 4321 dropped, and we were all like who is this dude barking and murdering this track.
“As far as I was concerned that was DMX’s song,” the actor states. “Then when It’s Dark and Hell is Hot dropped, that was everything to me. My anthem was Ruff Ryders anthem, Damien was so creative and terrifying, his Prayer (Skit) was so vulnerable and raw. This man was an artist. His authenticity and vulnerability inspired me to find my voice, it still does. RIP DMX🖤🙏🏾.”
Saint-Victor isn’t the only daytime star honoring DMX. Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane, The Young and the Restless) also posted a tribute on Instagram. “#DMX as a rapper was one thing,” Goddard wrote. “But as an actor… he set #Belly ablaze! #RIPDMX.”
The ex-YR regular is referring to Belly, a 1998 film in which DMX appeared with other performers including Taral Hicks, Method Man, and T-Boz. Set in the late 1990s in Queens, New York City, Belly told the story of young street criminals Tommy “Buns” Brown, played by DMX, and Sincere, played by Nas.
The two men attempt to put a life of crime behind them and leave the country. The film was directed by Hype Williams. Check out the tribute posts from Saint-Victor and Goddard below. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
