John McCook, Katherine Kelly Lang, and Heather Tom don’t share a specific storyline per se on The Bold and the Beautiful, but the trio of stars recently got together to help support a very important cause.
McCook, (Eric Forrester), Lang (Brooke Logan), and Heather Tom (Katie Logan) took part in a Stars In The House fundraiser for Cancer Support Community. The three stars joined SiriusXM hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley to talk about some of their favorite BB moments and other topics, including the importance of cancer care and research.
During the chat, attendees were invited to donate to Cancer Support Community. Asked if she was really pregnant when Katie was by the hosts when Katie had Will (Finnegan George), Tom replied, “I was actually pregnant. Brad (Bell, head writer/executive producer) — thank God — wrote the pregnancy into my storyline [because] I was pregnant like ALL over. Some of these girls [who are pregnant on soaps] just have like these little basketballs and everything else is all perfect. That was not me.”
With the passage of time, Tom now looks back on that moment in her life with a bit more objective clarity. “I, of course, thought I looked good! ‘You can’t even tell I’m pregnant!'” the six-time Daytime Emmy-winner says. Having looked back at the footage since then and no longer wearing what Tom playfully calls her “pregnancy goggles,” she says: “Oh, my God! I was giant! So, thankfully, he wrote it in.”
Shows opt to have pregnant characters give birth before or after the actress does in real-life. Tom went to Bell after she realized that Katie was going to deliver before she, herself, would. “I said, ‘You know, Brad…I’m not going to get any smaller,” she said. “You can have Katie have the baby, but I’m going to get bigger…”
A clip was shown of a very pregnant Katie arriving at the hospital with Bill (Don Diamont) and being attended to as she’s going into labor. “The doctor comes out to help you and, of course, he’s stunning,” observed Rudetsky. “I’ve never had a doctor who looks like this!” Katie’s doctor was Dr. Meade, whom veteran BB fans recall was played from 2012-13 by actor Jon Hensley, best known for his run as Holden Snyder on As the World Turns from 1985 until the show’s finale in 2010.
