The Bold and the Beautiful recap for October 7-11, 2019 features Katie’s kidney drama and the way she was finally saved. See what happened during this dramatic and high stakes week.
The Bold and the Beautiful is a very heavy-handed soap opera. In fact, there is absolutely zero subtly in its approach to story. Plot points literally drop like anvils from the sky and you can see them coming from a mile away.
Take Katie’s most recent storyline. Mrs. Spencer was fine and dandy on a Monday, a little achy on a Wednesday and by Friday she was face down on her bedroom floor and her poor hubby couldn’t get her awake for love or money.
A trip to the hospital revealed that she was experiencing kidney failure and, without a donor, her prognosis was death. But just who on the canvas would be offering up their organ?
Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Donna (Jennifer Gareis) were quickly eliminated. We were never given a good reason for Brooke’s denial and Donna was rejected for…what exactly? Having chickenpox as a child?
Further tests eliminated Katie’s husband, niece, and both nephews-in-law. Dialogue revealed that Donna had tracked down other relatives but every single one of them was not a viable candidate. So, who do we have left?
Oh of course! It’s the niece that every Logan sister has spent the past three weeks reading for filth over that whole stolen baby debacle. If you did not see this coming you obviously never attended Soap Opera Writing 101.
In the course of one day, Flo (Katrina Bowden) was tested, her results returned, an appointment made and then, 24 hours later she was having her kidney harvested and placed in a cooler for delivery to the operating room next door.
While the delicate surgery was being performed, Brooke waxed poetic about how Katie’s anonymous donor was an angel, a lifesaver, and would be forever an honorary member of the Logan family — heck, they might even get an invite to Thanksgiving dinner!
But in the same breath, she reiterated how much she hated Flo and Shauna (Denise Richards) and how both women could NEVER get back into her good graces. So, imagine everybody’s surprise when Katie asked to meet her donor and the orderly wheeled in Logan Enemy Numero Uno.

Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) to show what an absolutely inconsiderate ingrate he is when he arrived at Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) house, invited himself to stay over, and then extended an invitation to Thomas (Matthew Atkinson)! Needless to say, his attempt to reunite his feuding children was a bust.
Speaking of Thomas, how is the man supposed to be getting any semblance of psychological help when his psychiatrist — aka his heat-packing, Bill-shooting mama — is out of town at a medical convention?
Let’s hope that Taylor gave him a referral to a reliable — and mentally sound — colleague (who, preferably, isn’t named James Warwick). The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
