The Bold and the Beautiful’s RJ should have been bolder and given more than one punch for what Zende did to Luna. Zende’s needed a reality slap for quite some time now.
Zende’s Got A Huge Ego
Okay, okay, we know that a character unwittingly taking drugs and sleeping with the wrong person is not unprecedented on B&B. It happened to both Carolines (Joanna Johnson and Linsey Godfrey) with the former having sex with Ridge (then-Ronn Moss) thinking he was Thorne (then-Clayton Norcross), and the latter waking up next to Thomas (then-Pierson Fodé). The reused storyline is not what has our knickers in a twist this time around…it’s Zende’s (Delon de Metz) actions. (Catch up on your B&B history here.)
He has a huge chip on his shoulder, a mile-long jealous streak, and a King Kong-sized ego. He’s had eyes on Luna (Lisa Yamada) since she started interning for Forrester Creations. The young man feels that RJ (Joshua Hoffman) took what should have been his place at the fashion company, making us feel he was determined to “take” Luna from RJ in retaliation, despite his insistence to the contrary. (Click here to find out more about what went down between Luna and Zende.)
Undeterred by workplace ethics, he refused to take Luna’s “no” for an answer and would throw looks at RJ, whom he clearly despises, so it was obvious he was going to move in on her the first chance he got.
And move he did. After Eric (John McCook) and Donna’s (Jennifer Gareis) wedding, he went home to find Luna in his bed. Instead of trying to figure out what was going on because this was entirely out of character for her, he just hopped right in. Poor Luna had been accidentally drugged when she mistook her mother’s edibles for her own mints and had a couple of glasses of wine as a chaser (we’re not even going to mention the fact that the low amount she took would have given her vertigo, not sent her tripping and hallucinating that Zende was RJ).
Is he that much of a dunderhead that he assumed after she was necking with RJ all through the party she was going to hop into bed with him suddenly?
When RJ finally learned about what happened, he was seething with rage and ran straight to Forrester to confront his cousin, landing a single, immediate punch to Zende’s face which no doubt drew cheers from the audience. But RJ shouldn’t have stopped with one punch. Because Zende’s own ego caused him to think Luna was really into him, he never questioned anything and took advantage of the situation. RJ should have given him a proper beat down for such a dishonorable act — just a couple more punches so Zende wouldn’t forget not to take advantage of any woman.
