On The Bold and the Beautiful, doctor John “Finn” Finnegan is reeling from Steffy killing his birth mother Sheila Carter (but is she dead?). Off-screen, Tanner Novlan, who plays Finn, has some celebrating to do!
Happy Birthday, Tanner Novlan!
That’s because he was born on April 9, 1986, in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, Canada, which means he turning 38. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, Novlan worked in construction while honing his craft and working on getting that big break.
In 2009, Novlan made his big-screen debut in the film Maneater. That’s also the same year he appeared in the TV series Bones. Four years later, he took part in the ABC Discovers: Los Angeles Talent Showcase. Next came a starring role in the movie Flatbush Luck. Guest spots on TV programs including Modern Family and Parenthood followed.
Before landing his role on B&B, Novlan shot to popularity by appearing as an actor, who had trouble remembering his lines, in a commercial (within a commercial) for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
In 2020, Novlan was cast not only on B&B but also as Gregory Manes in The CW series Roswell, New Mexico.
He debuted in July on B&B as Finn, the handsome doctor who helped Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) recover from her motorcycle accident and helped her with her addiction to opioid painkillers. Novlan had ties to B&B long before being cast as Finn. His family dog’s name is Thorne. And, the actor wed actress Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlin) in 2015. In 2019, Ewell gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Poppy Marie. On June 6, 2022, Ewell gave birth to the couple’s son Jones.
Ewell has been back to B&B but not as Caitlin. She’s doubled as Steffy for intimate scenes. The show utilized spouses of actors on the show to help stay in line with COVID-19 safety protocols.
