Fans who are intrigued by behind-the-scenes information on their favorite TV shows and movies know that soap operas work on a completely different level than other genres. The Bold and the Beautiful star Lawrence Saint-Victor recently had a film air on BET+ called The Accused, and has been happily promoting it. He recently opened up more about working on a soap and making a movie, revealing the incredibly stark differences in productions.

Soaps Are Fast-Paced

It’s a wonder that Saint-Victor ever gets any sleep. Not only has he been in a major front-burner storyline on B&B, but he also writes scripts for the soap. On top of that, he had time to work on The Accused, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. Recording artist April Diamond interviewed him recently and got into the nitty gritty of his career. The episode was posted on her Instagram page, where she captioned it, “Meet @boldandbeautifulcbs Star Lawrence Saint-Victor! 13 years and going strong, with great stories of how he got to where he is and talking about his new movie The Accused on @betplus!”

The actor explained that making the film “was a wonderful creative experience because, you know, doing a soap opera, we’re running and gunning.” He elaborated that on B&B, they shoot two episodes per day, which translates as “100 [script] pages a day,” which is far more than what a single-camera shoot does.

He Had Fun

Saint-Victor explained that not only did he have a hand in creating his Accused character, Lance Branson, but he also flew out from Los Angeles to New York to film it. He further remarked that, “Soap operas are like plays. We’re kind of all just standing in rooms talking.” He noted that on daytime serials, there aren’t scenes where characters walk around with no dialogue, which was why working on the film was refreshing.

“We talk all the time, so it was nice shooting the film,” he stated, remarking that it gave him time to research playing a detective. That time allowed him to discover who his character was, even before he stepped on the set. For a few days, “It was me and the script creating in my imagination— this world. It was a lot of fun,” he enthusiastically commented.
