Soap Opera Veteran Lilly Melgar Suffers a Personal Loss

Condolences go out to Lilly Melgar and her family. The actress, who played Claudia Cortez, on The Bold and the Beautiful back in the mid to late 1990s and Lily Rivera on General Hospital, had to bid farewell to a cherished family pet.

“Kane Oliver Jackson,” Melgar began her post, honoring her late beloved dog. “Today would [have] been your Birthday. Since you left us on Jan 9, 2021, I cannot stop crying…There is such a huge void without your beautiful, regal and playful, sweet presence!

“Home just doesn’t feel like HOME without YOU in it,” the actress added, echoing the sentiments of pet lovers everywhere who’ve seen their beloved animal cross over the Rainbow Bridge. “Thank you for your fierce loyalty, your unconditional love, for teaching us, protecting us & loving us so deeply. “Rest easy, sweet boy! You did good,” wrote Martha Madison (Belle, Days of Our Lives), Melgar’s pal and co-host of the much-missed web talk show SoapBox With Lilly & Martha.

Melgar’s run on BB was relatively brief given that the show is in its fourth decade. Claudia was an undocumented worker at Spectra Fashions. Thorne (Jeff Trachta; Winsor Harmon) took a liking to Claudia, which caused discord in his marriage to Macy (Bobbie Eakes).
