Taylor has undergone many changes on The Bold and the Beautiful. Some fans have declared her Taylor 3.0. Her portrayer, Rebecca Budig, is doing her best with Taylor’s storyline. She had to shut out the naysayers the moment she joined the soap.
Kind of a Big Deal
Budig knows what it’s like to deal with a dedicated fan base. She’s starred on All My Children and General Hospital. Soap fans were critical of her roles on both soaps. But she’s never expected this kind of reaction. Budig told People that fans “are never going to be happy.” However, she admits that most fans are “usually very kind.”

Budig had to shut out the noise when she joined B&B in 2024 as Dr. Taylor Hayes. She admitted that taking over the role previously held by Krista Allen and Hunter Tylo was “really hard.” What was it like for Budig to take over a legacy role? “I feel like there’s going to be a group of fans that are never going to be happy. They’re never going to love you,” she said.
At first, she didn’t realize this role was kind of a big deal. It’s not like she could study the full history of her onscreen alter-ego. Budig relied on faith and trust in Bradley Bell.
“I always feel like, well, you’re going to have people that love you and people that don’t like you, especially because they get attached to the person who played it before, and I understand that,” Budig admitted.
Yet, there’s still a part of her who wants to be accepted by fans.

Silencing The Haters
Budig didn’t want to read the reaction to her portrayal of Taylor. “I don’t read it because I don’t need to get caught up in the minutiae. I have to just have faith that I’m just going to try and do my best,” Budig explained. In the beginning, she would struggle with her scenes because she needed the viewers to empathize with her character.
Taylor was keeping a secret from her family. She learned that she had heart disease. She later got a second opinion and was diagnosed with broken heart syndrome. Budig hopes that B&B fans have eventually come around to Taylor. “So hopefully they’re starting. It’s been a year. We’ll see,” she added.
