Denise Richards knows all about housewife drama courtesy of her stints on The Bold and the Beautiful as Shauna and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as herself. Now, the actress/reality personality is starring in a Lifetime movie Hunting Housewives as a housewife whose life is in danger!
Richards stars as Karla Dodds, a housewife who goes on a ladies’ weekend with gal pals Rebel Carron-Whitman (Nene Leakes), Joli Symons (Kym Johnson Herjavec), and Sharell Bouvier (Melyssa Ford). The plan is to get away from their husbands and kids and busy lives however, the trip hits a major snag after the small jet they’re traveling in crashes in the wilderness. The women use their wits — and what’s in their handbags — to stay alive. Plus, was the crash an accident? Or are these housewives truly being hunted?
Richards dropped by Live With Kelly & Mark to talk to the former All My Children stars (Kelly Ripa played Hayley; Mark Consuelos played Mateo) about the movie. “Four best friends go on a weekend trip and end up in the woods,” Richards shared. “We try to survive. We [have] come from very lavish lifestyles. We’re roughing it. The scenes I was in with [Nene] were not [where she was] on set. We had a stand-in. Kym Johnson got to work with her. I was hoping that I was able to work with her.”
Consuelos queried Richards about what kind of survivalist she’d be out in the woods in real life. “I grew up camping and I say that I think could do well,” Richards responded, “[but] my husband would say, ‘You’d be the one to go up to a bear and think it’s cute!'” Ripa advised: “Never go up to a bear and don’t run away from one!”
