Characters reacted interestingly during the Monday, June 3 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful. Ridge had to choose between Hope and Steffy’s business wants and visions. Li responded to learning about Poppy’s paternity play. And Katie continued to oppose Poppy’s presence in Bill’s life.
Ridge’s Reaction: Hedges his Bets
A showdown of sorts happened at Forrester Creations. If Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood — who recently threw an Emmy luncheon) had her choice, Hope for the Future would be gone; do not pass go, do not collect $200. Sorry, Hope (Annika Noelle)!
Obviously, the lines are being drawn at Forrester. It’s becoming more and more the Logans versus the Forresters. The show played up the Logans’ successes at FC, which means the families are in for a rocky road as this debate and this fight for HFTF continue.
While Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) often chooses Steffy’s side, with Hope for the Future, he’s hedging his bets. He saved HFTF for at least another quarter. So, this debate will raise its ugly head down the road. Ridge seemed to think Hope has a good team in place and needed time to stop the freefall and raise HFTF’s status to where it was once again. As for Hope and Steffy, their rivalry won’t die down anytime soon.
Li’s Reaction: She Goes on the Offense
Another showdown happened after Li (Naomi Matsuda) learned that Bill (Don Diamont) might be Luna’s father. Immediately, her walls went up, and she decided to take charge.
Her immediate reaction? Li apparently picked up a sealed paternity test and headed over to Bill’s place. There, she found Poppy (Romy Park), Luna (Lisa Yamada), and Bill thisclose to taking a DNA test. As a result, she stormed in and put a stop to it. Instead, she demanded they take the paternity test she brought. (Check out Soap Hub’s B&B Weekly Update here)
After all, she was a doctor, and it was better if Poppy had nothing to do with the test. Li clearly thought her sister would tamper with the test in order to show that Bill was the father. In her mind, Poppy was a golddigger of the highest order. Both Bill and Luna approved of Li handling things. Luna, especially, wanted to get this over with so she could find out the results ASAP.
Katie’s Reaction: Cautious and Critical
Recent history showed Katie (Heather Tom) choosing a different life for herself, even after Bill “helped” bring down Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) with the Feds. But she’s suddenly, seemingly, rounding back to Dollar Bill.

Katie was cautious of Poppy’s motives for dating her ex. Thanks to RJ (Joshua Hoffman), Katie discovered Luna might be Bill’s daughter, making her even more skeptical. It also made her more susceptible to Li’s version of Poppy. If her sister called Poppy a golddigger, then there must be some truth to it, right?
Katie sounded concerned for Bill. And we’re wondering how she’ll respond in the future. Will she take an active approach to dealing with Poppy? Or, at the very least, confront Bill over this new/old woman in his life?
RJ’s Reaction: Concerned
What was interesting about RJ’s reaction to Bill possibly being Luna’s father was that he actually had a reaction. We thought he’d just be supportive of Luna. But RJ is well aware of the history Bill shares with his family. (Yet, that didn’t stop him from renting out the Spencer beach house and setting up his bachelor pad.)
During his conversation with Katie, RJ worried that Bill might turn out to be Luna’s father. This reaction seemed a little out of nowhere, but everybody should probably worry when Bill’s involved.
Will this concern about Bill lead to friction between RJ and Luna? That is, if it turns out Bill is the baby daddy. Were the writers laying the foundation for future drama?
