On The Bold and the Beautiful, Carter has dared to propose some lofty ideas that will elevate Forrester Creations. However, Steffy is pretty much against anything he has to say, especially if he’s aligned himself with her nemesis, Hope. Carter and Steffy might be headed for a feud, but his portrayer Lawrence Saint-Victor is not worried that Steffy will do away with Carter.
Saint-Victor sat down with Soaps recently and opened up about what’s going on with Carter. He explained that Carter considers himself part of the Forrester family and takes his work very seriously. He and Hope (Annika Noelle) have recently revealed they have feelings for each other, and he’s become more protective of her and her fashion line, Hope for the Future. “He’s seeing how she’s been sort of devalued by Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and how that’s bleeding into Hope For the Future,” he stated.
But considering Carter is the COO of Forrester Creations, Saint-Victor noted, “He is in an important enough position at Forrester that he should be able to question his CEOs and have a discussion.” He recalled appreciating one of Carter’s lines that stated HFTF is failing because Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) left as lead designer, and the company should support it and give it more resources than simply cancel it.
Saint-Victor then explained why Steffy irritates Carter, especially after she poo-pooed his idea to bring back Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) to restart Forrester’s jewelry line. He remarked that Steffy “might be feeling disrespected by Carter, but he’s feeling disrespected by her. He’s like, ‘I’m your COO. Why aren’t you hearing me? You can say no, but let’s really talk about this first.’” He also stated that Steffy treats Carter like any old employee and that doesn’t sit well with him. When asked if bringing Ivy in without any advanced notice would put Carter’s job in jeopardy, Saint-Victor responded, “I don’t think so, not at this point. Carter feels like he’s part of the family, and sometimes family doesn’t get along. I don’t think he thinks his career is anywhere near in jeopardy.” Hopefully, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Eric (John McCook) will come to their senses and embrace Carter’s vision for the future of their company.
