Lawrence Saint-Victor was shocked by the backlash Carter received for stealing Forrester Creations. The Bold and the Beautiful star admitted that his onscreen persona is no longer a fan favorite, and he’s fine with it. He loved the over-the-top reaction that this storyline got on social media.

Carter Backlash

It’s hard to believe, but Carter is no longer the people’s favorite. He attempted to steal Forrester Creations from his best friend and business partner, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). In a new interview with TV Insider, Saint-Victor said he’s loving the attention this storyline has gotten. For him, it’s a good thing for the show.

“I love it because it means people are engaged; it means people are into the story,” Saint-Victor explained. “And they feel like Carter threw Hope [Annika Noelle] under the bus; it means they believed in everything he said to her, and he did something that ticked them off. That means they’re invested.”

Saint-Victor often interacts with the B&B fanbase. He’s read both the “good tweets” and the “negative tweets.” The actor enjoyed the negativity the most “because the story is doing what it’s supposed to do.” But that doesn’t mean he knew what was coming next. Saint-Victor and his co-star Noelle were in awe over the twists in this storyline. “I had no idea that Carter’s conscience would start to get the best of him, and he would give the company back and lose the woman he loves,” he remarked.

Defending His Business Moves

No one saw this coming, not even the viewers. Ultimately, Carter felt guilty about taking the company from his best friend, whom he lost. He wanted Ridge back in his life. The two agreed that Carter would remain on board as attorney and COO, which isn’t a bad deal. Saint-Victor was surprised by the fans’ reactions to Carter’s latest move.

“I didn’t realize how controversial his decision was going to be until I would see the fan feedback,” he explained. “I knew that he might have been a little naive in thinking he could give the company back and Hope would be fine, but I didn’t realize some fans would be really upset with Carter.”

Saint-Victor defended Carter’s moves. The Accused star explained that it wasn’t Carter’s decision to take over the company. He was only motivated by the idea. Carter only “felt he had to do” it because he felt jilted by the Forresters. In Carter’s mind, he had to take some sort of action, even if it wasn’t the right kind of action. “He took no joy out of taking it from them. In his very naive dream scenario, they would all still be able to work together,” Saint-Victor added.
