Kim Matula played Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2010 to 2014, although she popped in two or three more times after. Since leaving daytime, she has worked consistently snagging series regular roles, making guest star appearances, and playing Jane Curtin in the 2024 movie Saturday Night. She and her castmates recently posed for the cover of TheWrap Magazine. Matula is front and center, creating great buzz for her work in the critically acclaimed film.
Matula’s post-B&B career has included starring in the short-lived series LA to Vegas and the second season of Lifetime’s UnREAL. She’s also guest-starred on everything from 911: Lone Star to The Sex Lives of College Girls to The Resident. With Saturday Night, she plays a real-life person who helped propel late-night TV to thrilling and hilarious new heights.
The current cover girl plays Jane Curtin, the groundbreaking comedian who would go on to become the first woman to ever anchor SNL’s Weekend Update desk. However, the movie takes place shortly before the iconic show’s debut episode. Luckily, Matula was able to get a clearer picture of Curtin when she hopped on the phone with her.

“I wanted to know how she felt being on that set, what her relationship was like with the rest of the cast,” Matula explained to TheWrap Magazine. It was a boys’ club. There were men in the cast who were actively like, ‘Women are not funny.'”
Unsurprisingly, Curtin “really had to prove herself,” Matula added. “But despite all of those things that were such a challenge, she also said that it was some of the most fun she’s ever, ever had.”

The actress may or may not have had to tap into her soap skills of memorizing a ton of dialogue. Apparently, at one time, Curtin was the commercial queen. So, after a table read, Jason Reitman, who directed Saturday Night, came up to Matula and told her he had written a monologue for her. “‘It’s this weird blend of commercials that she’s done, and you get to show the highs and lows.'”
Matula confessed that it was one of her favorite scenes to shoot. Saturday Night is available in the digital universe. Currently, you can rent or buy the movie digitally. However, on January 7, the movie will be accessible on DVD and Blu-ray.
