Katherine Kelly Lang and John McCook shared memories from when they first joined The Bold and the Beautiful. The cast just celebrated the soap’s 38th anniversary, which still has us buzzing to this day.
Bringing The Glamour
Lang joined B&B in 1987. She had no idea that she would still be part of the soap to this day. She perfectly portrayed Brooke, who would turn heads. Brooke has had her share of men on the steamy soap. Now, her heart is devoted to one man. Not only is she a sultry seductress, but she’s also a glamorous woman who’s a force to be reckoned with in both the fashion and beauty worlds.
Brooke has juggled many hats over the years. She was the CEO of Forrester Creations not once, but twice. She also launched a successful skincare line called BeLief. Let’s not forget about Brooke’s Bedroom, which had many people blushing. Last year, Brooke brought back the boudoir line with an empowering photo shoot.

Keeping It Real
In an interview with Woman’s World, McCook and Lang recalled the beginnings of their long soap career. They had a chemistry test, in which left Lang in a fit of giggles. McCook knew that Lang’s bubbly personality was the perfect match for his character, Eric. Also in the interview, McCook also revealed the real side of Lang, when the cameras come down.
She’s nothing like her glamorous alter-ego. In fact, Lang prefers to keep it real and lets her beauty shine for itself. The scenes may look glamorous, but are anything but. In fact, it can take a long time for the actors to prepare. McCook recalled a time when Lang walked onto the set. She had her skirt and shoes in her hands.
“Half the time, Kelly will be coming on the set carrying her shoes and her skirt, which she hasn’t even put on yet, and it’s the same with me,” McCook joked. “We’re just barely getting it together to begin the scene and it might seem we’re very cavalier about it, but in fact, we do huge amounts of preparation.”
Group Effort
This show is a Herculean effort, which involves the talent of the actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew members. No one can do it on their own, not even the stars of the show. As they say, dream work makes the team work. This cast is strong because of their talent and group effort. “Kelly, Thorsten, Jacqui (MacInnes Wood), and all the rest of us have to flesh out this stuff in our dressing rooms and be ready to deliver, so we are actually incredibly dependent on each other,” McCook added.
