It’s been a little while since John McCook’s character, Eric Forrester, has had a major storyline on The Bold and the Beautiful. The last big one was him defying the odds and overcoming a major health crisis, which had him at death’s door. But Eric’s still got a long life ahead of him, and his portrayer even gave a peek into the upcoming Italian adventure. The actor has had a long career in soaps and recently took some time to celebrate his major milestone.
Soaps Will Never Die
McCook wrote on Instagram, “50 years ago I was Lance Prentiss on The Young and the Restless then in 1987 I became Eric Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. Today I’ve spent 50 plus years at CBS Television City…my dressing room now is empty and our show will be moving over to The Sunset Las Palmas Studios, where it will rebuild, refresh, and enlarge our sets, bringing back the old glitz and glamour of our show.”
He ended with some very reassuring words for soap fans, writing, “Stay tuned for what’s ahead and spread the good news. Soap Opera is here to stay…” That’s certainly music to our ears. Rebecca Budig (Taylor) shared the heartfelt response, “Loved being a visitor in your room, John. Always felt like a big hug ❤️❤️.” Even newcomer Christian Weissmann (Remy) eagerly commented, “The best leader!!!”

Forrester Always Remains the Same
McCook attached a photo of himself sitting in his dressing room with the post. His former Y&R castmates expressed how they missed him, with Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) responding, “We will miss you all!🥹❤️,” and Lauralee Bell (Christine) lovingly writing, “I will miss your smiling face in the hallway! Hope you’ll invite us over for a field trip to show us the new spot ❤️.”
Australia’s B&B Instagram fan page chimed in with, “Such a great innings, John! We all look forward to seeing what’s next in your new studios. ❤️.” And one fan shared timeless words of wisdom with, “Studios may change, but Mr. Forrester stays the same.”
