As Rick Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, Jacob Young helped launch one of the show’s most successful young storylines with the Rick/Amber/CJ/Kimberly quadrangle. Now, the actor has teamed up with a soap opera pal to take on a new venture — teaching high schoolers about filmmaking.
Jacob Young: Ready For Their Close-Up
“When Trent Garrett [ex-Asher Pike, All My Children] and myself decided to introduce screenwriting + film to high schoolers,” Young shared in an Instagram post, “we weren’t sure if anyone would get behind it. I have to say it’s been an incredible outpouring of support from educators, my friends in the industry, and sponsors like @nanluxamericas providing us with an exceptional lighting package. Thank you for helping us light the way to the future of cinema and for changing lives one film at a time!”
“I created Next Generation Storytellers with my co-heart [Jacob Young] about a year ago with a dream of bringing Hollywood to all backgrounds of High School youth across the globe,” Garrett shared on social media. “We have started in Hampton, Virginia which happens to be my hometown and very meaningful to me.
Next Generation Storytellers
Young and Garrett are acting as mentors in Next Generation Storyteller’s 24-week program. The organization’s goal is to bring opportunities to youth of all backgrounds in the movie world. Next Generation Storytellers wants to make sure that students have “practical experience and creative immersion” in the worlds of entertainment, media, and technology.

An undertaking like this doesn’t happen without a lot of support. Young is giving shout-outs on social media to everyone from members of the press for bringing awareness to his and Garrett’s venture to Garrett himself. “Thank you to my best friend and partner of [Next Generation Storytellers] [Trent Garrett] for dealing with my idiosyncrasies yet still going the distance,” Young shares. “Crazy how this is only a bit over a year old yet we still built it against all the odds.
