Carter has found himself at the center of some complicated dynamics on The Bold and the Beautiful. With Liam not facing a death sentence after all and Hope reconsidering her feelings for her ex, Carter has dramatic stormy waters in his near future. Off-screen, Lawrence Saint-Victor is just as engaged — not in love triangles, but in the fight to stay present, grounded, and accountable. In a new interview, he opened up about the parallels between his acting career and his approach to health, fitness, and family.
Showing Up Every Day
“You showed up. You’re here,” Saint-Victor explained on the Cat Bradshaw Training YouTube show. “The workout’s going to be hard. We’re committed to doing the workout,” he stated, recalling his time coaching at F45. He believes the same philosophy applies to life on set and at home — once you show up, the rest is about doing the work. What keeps him consistent isn’t perfection but accountability, especially as he balances his Hollywood career with marriage and fatherhood.
The actor explained that while acting and fitness can have the same structure in terms of how you tackle them, thereby keeping him on track, he found he needed to let go of the illusion of control. This applies to unconditional love. Saint-Victor postulated, “Can I love you no matter how you make might make me feel today? Will my love for you change if you make me feel sad today or unseen?” (Check out the new film Saint-Victor’s appearing in.)
Embracing Balance and Growth
Saint-Victor also tackled the concept of redefining balance in his life. “All or nothing doesn’t work for me and it doesn’t work for most,” he said, adding that, “I used to be an all or nothing person and there would always be that wall where it crashes.” He explained that mentality would only last for a couple of months, but then, “the whole thing breaks because it was way too much and I can’t keep this up forever.”
Ultimately, he’s come to realize that “better” changes as you go through the various stages of life. Being a husband and father has shifted his perspective, and reminds him that unconditional love doesn’t just apply to his family, but to himself as well. They key is to maintain that stance as he noted, “I’d rather stay in shape than get in shape.” Life, he reasoned, isn’t about using shortcuts to get to where you want, it’s about being accountable for your actions and finding strength in the process.
