Deacon and Finn’s pure belief in a changed Sheila continued in the Tuesday, May 7 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful. Meanwhile, Hope’s reaction after the haze of her fainting faded away was a bit underwhelming…for reasons. And Deacon wasted no time and, once again, popped the question to Sheila.
After answering Hope’s questions and concerns, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) wanted fresh air. So she and Deacon (Sean Kanan — one of Soap Hub‘s Performers of the Month for April) went outside and took a moment for themselves.
Deacon took the opportunity to ask his beloved a very important question. He hoped Sheila would marry him. Before she answered, he raved about her and her nine toes. He even bent down and kissed that foot! Deacon is too far gone to be saved when it comes to Sheila. There’s no talking sense into him. He even tried to get his daughter to believe Sheila had changed in an almost cult-like fashion.
Speaking of Hope (Annika Noelle), she clearly had difficulty believing Sheila was alive after recovering from her fainting spell. Even though the woman stood right there before her. Ultimately, she took the good cop approach. It felt like Hope assumed everybody would rip into Finn (Tanner Novlan), Deacon, and Sheila when they found out what happened. So, she went the non-judgmental route.
Of course, Hope had questions. They told her about Sugar and how this whole thing went down. And for a second, it seemed like Hope would go off on Sheila for destroying Sugar’s life. After all, she forced the woman to undergo plastic surgery and take the fall for her crimes. The urge to get revenge was understandable.
But that didn’t really happen. Instead, she listened to Sheila act like a victim. And she heard Deacon and Finn call what Sheila did heroic. She absorbed what they said and worded everything cautiously. They explained how Sheila tried to protect Steffy and Finn’s family. On top of that, they told her they believed Sheila had put in the work. That she was a changed woman. Why didn’t Hope tear all these plot holes apart?
And when Hope and Finn were alone, she told him she wouldn’t judge. He could talk to her anytime. And the moment ended in a hug. When Finn’s choices blow up in his face, will he need Hope more than ever?
While this insanity went on at Deacon’s, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) talked to Liam (Scott Clifton) after their meeting with Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor — who’s nominated for an Emmy in the writing category at B&B) at Forrester. She was still frustrated but as she talked about Finn and Sheila with her ex-husband, she came to the realization that Sheila was gone. She can breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Finn told Hope it wouldn’t be easy, but he hoped Steffy would come around about his bio mom. That he knows what Sheila did in the past. But that’s what it is, the past. He has a second chance with his mom, and he wants to take it.
Finn may have just signaled the end of his marriage. Because Steffy will never accept Sheila, and with good reason. How does he think that his wife will come to terms with Sheila’s return? Better yet, how does he think Steffy will learn to accept his new, fresh, kinder, and gentler outlook towards his mom? There’s no way Steffy can unsee and unhear Finn’s warm and fuzzy thoughts regarding Sheila.
