Thorne Forrester stood in his brother Ridge Forrester’s shadow on The Bold and the Beautiful for years, but today is a day that Thorne’s portrayer, Winsor Harmon, doesn’t have to share with anyone. The fan favorite is celebrating a day that is all for himself!
That’s because Winsor Dewey Harmon was born on November 22, 1963, in Crowley, Louisiana, which means that the B&B favorite is turning 60 years old today! The actor first made his mark on the daytime scene as Del Henry, Dixie Cooney’s half-brother on All My Children in 1994. Before coming to B&B, he made an appearance on an episode of Acapulco H.E.A.T. that also guest-starred his future B&B dad John McCook (Eric Forrester).
Harmon was tapped to take over the role of Thorne in 1996, replacing Jeff Tracta, who’d played the role since 1989. Fans picketed outside the studio, unhappy that Tracta was out of a job, but Harmon took the high road, acknowledging and respecting the fan base that came before him. Harmon’s Thorne was thrust into a love quadrangle with TV brother Ridge (then, Ronn Moss; now, Thorsten Kaye), Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), and Taylor Hayes (then, Hunter Tylo; now, Krista Allen).
The actor talked to Soap Hub about the chemistry he felt that he and Lang found. “I’ll never forget a scene that [Brooke and Thorne] had where they were talking about the stars,” Harmon shared. “The writing was so right. It felt good.”
During his tenure as Thorne, Harmon’s onscreen love interests have included Darla Einstein Forrester (Schae Harrison), Claudia Cortéz (Lilly Melgar), and Thorne’s true love, Macy Alexander Forrester (Bobbie Eakes).
Off-screen, Harmon has been married to Deanna Eve Lindstrom since July 18, 2001. They have one child: Winsor Harmon IV. Harmon switched to non-contract status with B&B in 2010. He appeared on a recurring basis until 2016. In 2017, the show recast Thorne with actor Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks, General Hospital). He played the part for about a year, and then, Thorne hastily ended his marriage to Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and moved back to Europe to work at Forrester International — where most B&B characters go to after they’re written off the show!
In just a few weeks, however, fans will be treated to Harmon’s return to the B&B screen. The actor is set to revive his role, along with screen sister Ashley Jones (Bridget).
Two years ago, Harmon reprised playing Thorne for B&B’s 35th episode, which focused on original cast member Lang. “[Kelly’s] a joyous person to be around and is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside,” Harmon told Soap Hub. “The show got very lucky when they found her.” Soap Hub would like to wish Winsor Harmon a very happy birthday, and you can too by clicking on the X (formerly Twitter) link below.
