In addition to celebrating 16 years on The Bold and the Beautiful, which, all tallied, was a total of 40 years on CBS daytime, Don Diamont also noted one of the greatest gifts of his career: working with Heather Tom, who plays Bill’s on-again, off-again love interest, Katie. Bill and Katie, while they may be the love of each other’s lives, have had trouble trying to be a lasting couple. Diamont recently opened up about why that may be.
He Explained Bill’s Worldview
The B&B actor spoke with Soaps to get at the heart of Bill’s issues. He described Bill as being a “billionaire, misogynistic playboy,” and that description isn’t far from the truth. Although one strange quirk recently was his helping Luna (Lisa Yamada) get out of jail despite being a double murderer. So Bill does have a soft side, as he claims to relate to the young woman, but in the romance department, he’s got a lot of baggage.
He felt that, “Ultimately, somebody with that level of disrespect for women has mommy issues.” While it hasn’t been written into the show, the actor fabricated his own ideas of what makes Bill the way he is. He explained that there’s no lasting satisfaction for Bill in accumulating partners, companies, or material possessions, stating, “There’s nothing that can fill that black hole that exists in him, and he is forever battling his worst inclinations.”

A Reunion Would Help Bill
Diamont stated that he would love to see Bill and Katie get past their issues and reunite. “Obviously, conflict is how we make our living,” he explained, but added that the two getting back together, despite the romance faltering, would be ideal.
“I think at this point in his life, it’s appropriate, and he’s ready for it,” he remarked. Diamont had previously told Soap Hub in 2023 that he would like to have more story information about Bill’s mother on the soap, perhaps even a story involving her. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but we’re rooting for Bill and Katie as well!
