Pat E. Johnson, American martial artist, stunt choreographer, and actor passed away on November 5 at the age of 84. His former student and co-star Sean Kanan has a poignant message to impart.
The Bold and the Beautiful favorite took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday and posted: “I woke to the news that Pat Johnson passed away. He was a martial arts legend. He trained me for The Karate Kid III and was a source of strength, kindness, and direction for me. May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
Kanan, of course, played Mike Barnes, the chief antagonist in the 1989 film (a role he would later reprise in the sequel series Cobra Kai), opposite the likes of Ralph Macchio, Noriyuki “Pat” Morita, and Johnson, who not only choreographed the action sequences but also appeared on camera as the All Valley Karate Tournament’s head referee (just as he had in the previous two installments).
In addition to the Karate Kid franchise, Johnson was well known for performing various stunts, coordinating fight sequences, and acting in a plethora of action films, including Enter the Dragon, The Ultimate Warrior, To Live and Die in L.A., Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and the original Mortal Kombat.
Soap Hub sends its deepest condolences to Pat E. Johnson’s friends, family, co-workers, past and present, and admirers during this difficult time.
