Sean Kanan — Studio City Honors

The ISA (Independent Series Awards) nominations are out, and Studio City has garnered 13 nods. “I am overwhelmed and thankful that our show, which I refer to as ‘The Little Engine That Could’ series, has received such support from the Indie Series Awards,” says Sean Kanan, co-executive producer, writer, and star. “Our second season was a collaborative effort of creativity, love of our content, and hard work. We look forward to creating more entertaining series in the future.”

Studio City received nods for Best Drama Series, Best Director in a Drama Series, Best Writing in a Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Sean Kanan (Sam); Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Carolyn Hennesy (Gloria); Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Tristan Rogers (Doc) and Justin Torkildsen (Jacob Y); and Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Natalie Burn (Shelby) and Juliet Vega (Delilah).

The series received additional nods in the categories of Guest Performer in a Drama Series, Lily Melgar (Becky); Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, Outstanding Cinematography in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Editing in a Drama Series.

What’s It All About

Studio City, which can be seen on Amazon Prime, tells the story of Sam Stevens (Kanan), a veteran soap opera actor starring in the “No. 2 most-watched daytime drama — Hearts on Fire.” The show tells the story of Sam’s exploits to maintain his position on the soap, break out into feature films, and deal with his complicated personal life, which includes an aging step-father, his shocking paternity, and the revelation he has a daughter whom he never knew existed.

Sean Kanan Is Set for the ISAs

Studio City was created by producer, actor, and author Sean Kanan and Jason Antognoli. Timothy Woodward, Jr. serves as showrunner and director. Sean Kanan, Michele Kanan, and Timothy Woodward, Jr. serve as writers and executive producers.

The Indie Series Awards celebrates the best in independently produced entertainment created for the web.  The 13th Annual Indie Series will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at the Colony Theater in Burbank. For more information, visit www.indieseriesawards.com.
