Katherine Kelly Lang reports that she suffered an injury while horseback riding on Mother’s Day. The Bold and the Beautiful star has shared an update with her followers on her condition.
Katherine Kelly Lang Suffers Broken Bones in Her Ankle
We’ve seen soap opera heroines like Dynasty’s Krystle Carrington (Linda Evans) and The Young and the Restless’s Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) suffer horseback riding accidents. Now, Katherine Kelly Lang, who plays B&B’s Brooke Logan Forrester, has suffered a real-life injury.
“I hope you all had an amazing Mothers Day today…” Lang began her post on Instagram. “I started out on a beautiful ride yesterday with friends. Our plan was to do 40 miles for training for the 50-mile horse race coming up in June. It was a beautiful day! At around 16 miles I got off my horse to walk down a steep and very rocky trail to give her a break.

“At the bottom of the trail, I tripped on a rock and my left foot took the pounding,” Lang continues. “My ankle and foot dislocated off to the left at a 90-degree angle to my leg. I pushed it back into place. It was so gross but I had to do it.
Katherine Kelly Lang Reports Help Was Nearby
“Thankfully this happened by a road and a nice stranger called 911,” a grateful Katherine Kelly Lang shares. “And thankfully I was with my friends who helped with my horse and my spirits. The ambulance took me to the hospital and the x-rays showed 3 broken bones in my ankle. Had surgery late that night and now have rods, pins, and screws in my ankle. No weight bearing on my foot for 6 weeks.
“I will still go to work later this week and try to heal quick so I can do all the things I love to do,” Lang adds. “I am still in the hospital today and trying to have a smile on my face. I am not a happy camper when things slow me down like this. And there is always a lesson to learn. Not sure what that lesson is yet but will have the time to contemplate. #staypositive.”
No word yet on how this situation will or won’t affect screen time for Brooke. B&B may either write Lang’s injury into the script (fortunately, Brooke’s daughter Bridget, played by Ashley Jones, is a doctor!), write Brooke off the canvas so that Lang will have time to recuperate, or temporarily recast the role. Veteran B&B fans recall when Catherine Hickland (ex-Lindsay, One Life to Live) stepped in for Lang as Brooke Logan in the show’s early days 35 years ago or when Sandra Ferguson (ex-Amanda, Another World) subbed for Lang during her maternity leave in 1997.
