B&B Star Sean Kanan Wants to Make You Laugh

Soap opera fans who are attending The Bold and the Beautiful fan club event this Sunday in Burbank have another chance to see Sean Kanan, who plays Deacon. The actor is appearing at a comedy club in North Hollywood the night before Sunday’s B&B fan event.

Kanan, who is also known for his role as Mike Barnes in Karate Kid 3 and Cobra Kai (Netflix), will perform at the Comedy Chateau, which is located at 4615 Lankershim Blvd. Doors open at 6:30 pm for seating. The actor makes people laugh on stage, but he’s been delivering the drama on daytime since his debut in the early 1990s as A.J. Quartermaine on General Hospital. He then popped up as Jude Kavanaugh in the final months of Sunset Beach. In 2000, he debuted in arguably his most successful role — Deacon Sharpe, who’s bedded many B&B beauties over the years. Currently, he’s tied to Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), who has once again escaped the clutches of the law.

Comedic Influences

“I’ve always loved Eddie Murphy [Saturday Night Live], Ricky Gervais [host, The Golden Globe Awards], and Will Ferrell [Elf],” Kanan tells Soap Hub when asked about his comic influences. “We’re going to have a fun show. People are going to laugh and have a great time. I think soap opera fans and fans of Cobra Kai are going to relate to my material. The venue is great!”

He’s not the only one on the comedy bill. Marco Assante’s credits include appearances on the TV sitcoms King of Queens and Rules of Engagement. Mike Marino is one of the country’s top touring comedians. He’s appeared on The Tonight Show and Comics Unleashed with Bryon Allen. “Mike and Marco are both fantastic comics,” Kanan raves.

Kanan’s invited some of his B&B and Y&R pals (including Kate Linder, who plays Esther), so don’t be surprised if you see a few familiar faces in the audience. Soap Hub’s own West Coast editor, Michael Maloney, will be hosting the show!
